Cataract surgery is the most frequently performed Ocular surgery all over the World. The technology used to perform cataract surgery has improved considerably over the years and it is considered a very safe and effective procedure today.
Darshan Eye Care, as part of its commitment to sharing and spreading knowledge, conducts a CME program once in 2 months, for 25 practising ophthalmologists. Topics of relevance to them are chosen, and the platform allows lectures and scope for audience interaction.
On 20th November, Sunday, the topic chosen was Cataract Surgery – safety and outcomes and included 4 talks, with 3 guest speakers as well. The meeting was interesting and there was sufficient time for the attendees to interact with the speakers and clear their doubts.
Infections after cataract surgery can affect the outcomes after good surgery and are best avoided. Dr Rao spoke about the various measures that can be used before, during and after surgery to avoided this serious problem. Darshan Eye Care has one of the lowest infection rates in the city.
The other talks focussed on improving the calculation accuracy of IOL power estimation, helping the patient with Insurance claims, and managing the rare patient with infection after surgery. Dr Ramana Kumar is the retina consultant at Darshan Eye Care.
Continuing the Program, a CME is scheduled 2 months later, where other aspects of cataract surgery will be discussed. This session will deal with the technique of cataract surgery and will include Dr Srinivas K Rao, Dr Sanjeev P Srinivas and other speakers talking about their techniques.
