Sankara Eye Hospitals in Coimbatore conducted a Meeting on the various aspects of Cataract surgery.
Dr Srinivas K Rao was invited to deliver lectures on “Pediatric Cataract Surgery” and on “Cataract Surgery in eyes with Corneal Disease”. He also served on a Panel of Experts discussing Complications in Cataract surgery.
The Meeting was attended by over 150 Ophthalmologists from Coimbatore and neighbor ing Kerala. The program was well attended and the audience had useful interactions with the Faculty.
The first recorded cataract surgery was by Susruta – in India, in the 6th century BC
In his lecture on Cataract surgery – Dr Rao traced the evolution of surgical techniques for the surgery of this common condition.
He discussed the various causes for dryness before and after cataract surgery and the consequences of not managing these problems.
Dr Rao described the various options available to diagnose such problems, and discusses his approach to treating such patients.
He also shared advanced techniques that he uses for managing, subluxed cataracts, cataracts in children, and secondary IOLs
