The Minto Eye Hospital in Bangalore is the second oldest Eye hospital in India, the first being the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Chennai, India. The Bangalore Hospital will celebrate its 125th year of functioning in 2021.
As part of its ongoing expansion program, it has recently acquired a Laser system capable of corneal refractive surgery and the CME was conducted to help propagate awareness of LASIK and also to formally inaugurate the installation.
Dr Srinivas K Rao was invited to be the Key Speaker at the event and to share his knowledge and expertise in this area. Dr Srinivas K Rao started corneal refractive surgery in 1993 and has over two-and-half decades of experience in this field.
He spoke on –
1. The process of Training, Technique and choice of corneal refractive procedure,
including when not to perform LASIK.
2. Preoperative evaluation of the patient to choose the ideal candidate for LASIK.
3. Preventing and managing corneal complications after LASIK.
The meeting was attended by over 250 delegates – including practicing
Ophthalmologists and Postgraduates from Bangalore and neighboring regions. The
talks were well appreciated and generated active discussions.
