CATALYST – Conjunctival Disorders

CATALYST is a Webinar that is conducted bi-monthly – live on Zoom,Facebook and Youtube. The group has over 1700 members from India and Abroad. The group was formed under the Mentorship of Dr Srinivas K Rao and has Dr Nidhi Gupta from Delhi, Dr Sharon D’Souza from Bangalore and Dr Aditya Pradhan from West Bengal as the other core members.Topics of interest to the practising Ophthalmologists are chosen and the Webinar is held for 2 hours each on Saturday and Sunday in the evenings.Speakers of repute in the Field, both from India and other countries are invited to deliver lectures on the topic. The talks are for 20 to 25 minutes with 5 to 10 minutes for a panel discussion and for audience interaction.This time the meet was on Conjunctival disorders and included topics like Immunology, Viral conjunctivitis, Bacterial, Fungal and Parasitic conjunctivitis,Allergic diseases, Tumours, Cicatrising disorders, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and chemical burns and Inflammatory and Immunologic conditions affecting the conjunctiva. Over 500 attendees were present this time.Speakers included – Dr Anil Tiwari and Dr Nidhi Gupta from Delhi, Dr Radhika and Dr Geetha from Chennai, Dr Santosh from Hyderabad, Dr Sujata from Orissa, Dr Chodosh from USA and Dr Srinivas K Rao spoke on the various Inflammations and Immunologic disorders of the conjunctiva. The talks were well received and this was the 6th session for the first year of CATALYST.

Dr Rao spoke about Ligneous conjunctivitis – a rare,  oorly understood and difficult to treat condition. He had published about this condition in 1999.
