Dr Srinivas K Rao moderates meet on tear problems
The ocular surface is a comp l exstructure tha t comprises of the lids, the epithelium of the cornea and conjunctiva and the tear film. It is increasingly being recognized that multiple factors can affect this functional unit, resulting in a variety of distressing symptoms for the patient.
At a recent meeting focus group in Kuala Lumpur, in which Dr Rao represented India, the important roles of hyperosmolarity of the tear film and ocular surface inflammation in the pathogenesis of dry eye were discussed.
