Prof Giancarlo Falcinelli is from Rome, Italy. He has spent his life developing and perfecting the surgery termed OOKP (Osteo- Odonto Keratoprosthesis).

This complex procedure is used to restore sight in patients with end-stage damage to the eye – when no other surgery can help, and is performed in less than 10 centers in the world.

He has helped Dr Srinivas K Rao learn the procedure – and has been working with him since 2001. This visit, they operated together on 5 patients. This procedure is performed in 2 stages, each lasting 6 to 7 hours, separated by 3 months.
